| Ted Grudowski broke on through to the other side with his visually complex
3-D photographic collages. Creating submersive environments of vison and sound,
he constructs an experience that one does not look at- but through. These portals
reveal worlds of both beauty and desolate horror; worlds that blur your perceptions
of space, dimension and reality. With an orginal score by Robin Guthrie (of Cocteau
Twins and Violet Indiana), The Sky is Falling was an experience unlike anything
you have ever witnessed.
His meticulously collaged imagery creates landscapes that exceed the boundaries
of reality and challenge the viewer to seperate fact from fiction. At the heart
of this collection are two large scale installations presenting the Hanford Nuclear
Site. With individual soundtracks, these visions into one of the worlds most hazardous
and historically charged environments require no special slight of hand to convey
their power and social significance. Balancing these overwhelming stereo experiences
with topics that range from the absurd to the surreal, Ted Grudowski revealed
a mind bending mixture of art and mirage. In the end there was no denying that
fact is often much stranger than fiction.
Mr. Grudowski is a local Seattle photographer who's professional work spans
