July 13 - August 8th, 2001

New works on canvas.

Rubber Ducks and Dinosaurs invade Vital 5!

From Twinkie barbecues to rubber duck shark attacks, Chris Thompson's long anticipated dark humor is brought back to Vital 5 for a scorching summer exhibition. His odd visions of dinosaurs, Santa Claus and road kill re-invent the objects of everyday life into a playful and clever landscape.

A graduate of Cornish Art School and reputed tattoo artist, this represented Chris Thompson's first solo gallery exhibition and some of his most powerful work to date. he has created album cover art for bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate and Sky Lobby, created cover artwork for Cake Magazine and previously displayed work at Black Lab Gallery, Roq La Rue and Vital 5 Productions. In Chris's own words, "I approach the imagery in my paintings with the knowledge that the finished work will make me laugh, whether from a memory of a childhood experience or a bad joke. Perhaps cringe is a better word than laugh."
