| The PAVE Project is the largest, most ambitious idea drafted by Vital 5. It is a five year long project that employs fifteen Seattle-based artists and five agents to write, document, film, produce and market their work. All twenty employees are on a fixed, moderate salary with full health care which is on contract for a finite, five year period. The carefully selected artists have been chosen based upon their diversity of talent, motivation and ability to prosper within the context of the contemporary art world. The fifteen artists are a combination of exceptional talents, including painters, sculptors, installation artists and performers.
The five people that support this group of artists are proven advocates of the independent arts community in Seattle; a writer, a documentary film maker, a grant writer, a graphic/web designer and a photographer. Their responsibilities include writing press releases and art grants, presenting individual artists or the group to mainstream media and other cultural destinations, and documentation. At the end of the five year project, this group will publish a hardback book and documentary feature film outlining the developement of the project and the growth of the artists over the course of five years.
The PAVE Project would also distribute $80,000.00 per year in art grants, four $20,000.00 life changing grants per year and fifty-six $500.00 Arbitrary Art Grants per year to the Seattle arts community. An exhibition space would produce exhibitions of the fifteen PAVE artists as well as Seattle based artists outside of the core group.
The person who funds the PAVE Project would recieve all book and film rights, a 150 piece collection of art created by the 15 artists over the course of the project, and international recognition for spawning a cultural revolution.
The price tag is 5 million dollars. The person who finances this project will profit from book rights and revenue, film rights and revenue, the 150 piece collection and countless publicity for years to come. The artists are here, the team to foster them is assembled and the time is ripe for Seattle to stand up as a leader of contemporary art.
